The Education Foundation Scholarship Information
Foundation Scholarship(modified for 2022)
Scholarships to be awarded:  Up to Four per Year
Amount to be awarded for each scholarship:  $1500

Description:
The scholarship provides funds for college (contingent upon proof of enrollment) to a graduate of South Brunswick High School.  The scholarship may be used at any accredited institution of higher education in the United States or Canada, including two year institutions.

Eligibility requirements:
  1. Cumulative high school GPA through first semester of senior year of at least 2.8 as reflected in the student's transcript, which must be submitted.
  2. Combined math and verbal SAT score of at least 1000 (or ACT score of 22), to be verified by South Brunswick High School.  If student has not taken SAT or ACT, only GPA will be used to determine eligibility.
  3. No interview is required.
  4. Submission of all portions of local scholarship application (except that financial information is not required).
  5. Submission of one page, typed, double-spaced essay on one of the following subjects:
    1. Describe a recent challenge or obstacle that you faced and how you handled it.
    2. Describe a person who inspires you.
    3. Describe your career goals.
    4. Describe a recent news event and how it affected your thinking about the world.
Dr. Gary P. McCartney Scholarship(modified for 2022)
Scholarships to be awarded:  One per Year
Amount to be awarded:  $1500

Description:
Dr. Gary P. McCartney served as Superintendent of Schools in South Brunswick for over 10 years. To recognize Dr. McCartney's outstanding contributions to the school district and to the community, the Education Foundation has established this scholarship in his name.  The scholarship provides funds for college (contingent upon proof of enrollment) to a graduate of South Brunswick High School who intends to pursue a career in the field of education.  The scholarship may be used at any accredited institution of higher education in the United States or Canada, including two year institutions.

Eligibility requirements:
  1. Cumulative high school GPA through first semester of senior year of at least 3.2 as reflected in the student's transcript, which must be submitted.
  2. Combined math and verbal SAT score of at least 1200 (or ACT score of 25), to be verified by South Brunswick High School.  If student has not taken SAT or ACT, only GPA will be used to determine eligibility.
  3. No interview is required.
  4. Submission of all portions of local scholarship application (except that financial information is not required).
  5. Submission of two one-half page, typed, double-spaced essays on the following subjects:
    1. Describe your goals or plans to pursue a career in the field of education AND one of the following:
      1. Describe a person who inspired you to pursue a career in education.
      2. Describe an experience you have had that relates to your goal to pursue a career in education.
      3. Describe any of your current activities that relate to your goal to pursue a career in education.
Foundation Vocational/Technical/Trade Scholarship
Scholarships to be awarded:  One per Year
Amount to be awarded:  $500

Description:
The scholarship provides funds to a graduate of South Brunswick High School working on post-secondary education at an accredited vocational, technical or trade school.

Eligibility requirements:
  1. Cumulative high school GPA through first semester of senior year of at least 2.5 as reflected in the student's transcript, which must be submitted.
  2. No interview is required.
  3. Submission of all portions of local scholarship application (except that financial information is not required).
  4. Submission of a letter of recommendation or statement of career plans and goals.
