Annual 5K and 1-Mile Walk Draws Enthusiastic Participants
SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — November 1, 2026
The South Brunswick community showed up in stride to support local students and schools at the annual Education Foundation 5K/1 Mile Walk. This year's event brought together 65 dedicated runners and walkers who hit the pavement to make a direct impact on educational programs.
The morning kicked off with an inspiring opening ceremony, where the national anthem was beautifully sung by South Brunswick High School junior Angie DeMarco. Following the performance, the event split into two distinct fields, showcasing both competitive drive and community spirit. The hallmark 3rd Annual 5K race drew 51 energetic runners, while the 1-Mile Walk welcomed 14 participants who enjoyed a scenic, community-focused route. Together, their collective steps raised vital funds to support classroom grants, student resources, and foundation initiatives.
Demonstrating the true all-ages nature of the community effort, the day's field spanned generations, featuring a youngest participant of just 4 years old and an oldest participant at 85 years young. Following the events on the course, the race concluded with a high-energy ceremony presenting awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes across 10 distinct age categories.
"We are incredibly proud of every single person who laced up their shoes to support our schools," said Chris Greco, 5K/Walk Co-Chair. "Whether sprinting across the 5K finish line or enjoying the 1-Mile Walk, our community proved once again that we are fully invested in the future of our students. Every registration and donation directly fuels the educational programs that help our children thrive."
The success of the event was made possible through the generous support of local community partners. Organizers extend a special thank you to this year's featured sponsors: the South Brunswick Education Association, Bagel Bazaar (of Dayton), and Arrow Sewer and Drain, whose commitment to local education anchored the fundraiser.br />
Organizers also extend a heartfelt thank you to all the participants, volunteers, and supporters who made this year's event an overwhelming success. Full race results, podium placements, event photos, and information on upcoming foundation events can be found by visiting edfoundationsb.org/efsb5k.
