The Ed. Foundation Honors Dedicated South Brunswick Special Education Staff with Ice Cream Social
July 30, 2026
The Ed Foundation hosted a special Ice Cream Social yesterday, July 29, 2026, to express deep gratitude for the dedicated educators and support staff of the South Brunswick Extended School Year (ESY) program.
The comprehensive ESY program provides vital continuity for students who require self-contained classrooms, spanning across elementary, middle, and high school levels. The program ensures these students continue learning, growing, and maintaining crucial skills beyond the traditional academic calendar. Because the program begins immediately following the end of the regular school year—launching the Monday after dismissal for some staff and the following week for others—these educators transition into summer instruction with little to no break.
"Our amazing [South Brunswick] staff members bring boundless patience and deep expertise to the classroom every single day," said Jodi Mahoney, Principal of Greenbrook Elementary School, representing the principals for all participating schools in the program. "They give so much of themselves to ensure our students thrive. The staff absolutely loved the ice cream, and this gesture truly made everyone feel appreciated for their seamless transition and unwavering commitment."
The event offered a well-deserved moment of relaxation for the educators across all grade levels, who expressed how meaningful it was to have their hard work recognized. The Ed Foundation extends a warm thank you to the community and donors who helped make this gesture of appreciation possible.
